Æolian – Review „Echoes Of The Future“

Æolian – Review „Echoes Of The Future“

published 05.01.2024

Founded in 2016, Æolian is a metal band based in Mallorca. They are trying to raise awareness of the need to protect our damaged and fragile environment through their music and lyrics. Their main musical influence can be described as a combination of Scandinavian and melodic death metal with elements of black and folk metal.

After „Silent Witness“ (release 2018) and „The Negationist“ (release 2020) their third album „Echoes of the Future“ is about two different futures we have on the horizon, depending on our decisions in the present. One of the futures is leading us to extinction, and the other one to the equilibrium, sustainability, and coexistence with our planet.

From the very first song I got caught by the brilliance of this band. Finest melodic death metal with catchy choruses, great guitar riffs and including amazing piano and fantastic acoustic guitar sections. Dani’s voice is convincing in every tone. Every song has it’s own unique touch. „Dreams or Reality“ for example can be categorised as progressive metal, while „The Miracle“ comes along with Folk metal touch. In „Echoes of the Future“ you’ll recognize trombones. And „Chronicles of the Fall“, the last and longest track with over 11 minutes, sums up this outstanding album with excellent breaks and great acoustic guitar playthrough. The song production, mixing and mastering is perfectly done.

Æolian knows how to completely captivate you with their music. This is what an album makes a special one. Every song surprises me in another way and I can’t name just one or two favorite songs. You have to listen to all, from the first to the last without a break.
